GH's Elizabeth: Test Tamperer?

This week, Elizabeth gets her hands on the DNA sample from Victor JR that John McBain obtained in Llanview and the possibility is that her thirst to be with Jason may turn her into Port Charles's latest test-result tamperer.

When she first became privy to Jason's suspicions about Sam's baby having survived, Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth) notes, "Her thought was, 'This is just your hope talking.'  She really thinks that the chances for Sam's baby to be alive are nil and she didn't want Jason or Sam to get hurt."  But upon spying John delivering the sample to Jason, "She realizes, 'He's really moving forward w/this.' and she decides, as Elizabeth does so well, to get involved (laughs).  It's not in any sort of malicious way; she really wants to help.  She says, 'Hey, I can put a rush on these, and I can do it under my name so there's no way Sam will find out.' because at this point, Sam doesn't know what's going on.  She's like, 'Just let me take care of it.'  Jason is very grateful."

But, continues Herbst, "When he places it in her hand and walks away, she realizes that the outcome of his future w/Sam lays in her hands. Literally.  That's a real difficult situation for her to face right now because she has just recently owned up to her feelings for Jason.  And she knows that if this baby turns out to be Jason and Sam's, he is going to get back together w/Sam and she will never have another chance."

The actress doesn't know if Liz succumbs to her base instincts and plays dirty to thwart a "Jasam" reuntion, but notes, "If she did tamper w/the results, I don't think Elizabeth understood the magnitude of the situation, how powerful it was, until it was sitting in her hands.  She wasn't looking for this situation, but there was a thought in her mind.  'If this turns out to be Jason's baby, what am I gonna do?'"

Later in the week, Liz makes it clear to Carly that her sights are still firmly set on Jason.  "Those scenes are the first time ever, in all of Elizabeth and Carly's history, where Carly actually apologizes for harassing her for all those years, for being nasty and rude, because she wanted Jason to depend on her and it hurt Carly that he needed Elizabeth," Herbst previews.  "But when Carly tells her, 'Jason and Sam are going to get back together,' Elizabeth says, 'The timing has never been right for Jason and me, but I don't believe that (it is) anymore.'  Then Jason shows up and she says, 'Let's go to the hospital and check on your test results.'"

I am just so tired of the show making Liason the "go to" conflict/triangle/possibility when it comes to angst for this couple. Its time to put this to rest, before Burton leaves even though now its basically too late for the fans to enjoy it. I hope she DOES switch the results. Show the world who she really is once and for all and let Jason see this chick is not Sweet Polly Purebread.
